Multi-Generational Homes in Ottawa

Many families are finding it convenient and comforting to change their home arrangements and live with their senior parents. Not only is this a cost-effective way to retain a high quality of life, it’s also an ideal way to ensure everyone in the extended family – children, parents, and grandparents – is optimally cared for. The children can be babysat, the parents have more freedom from childcare responsibilities, and the grandparents can play a more meaningful role in their grandchildrens’ lives.

Multigenerational Floorplan Options

To meet the increasing demand for multigenerational (multi-family) homes, Minto Communities has designed several alternative floorplan options with guest suites (sometimes referred to as inlaw suites) that offer enough space for everyone.

Guest Suite on Main Floor

One type of floorplan offers a private guest suite and 3-piece bathroom on the main floor that is easy and convenient for older people, who don’t have to climb stairs to an upper floor.

Guest Suite in Basement

The other type of floorplan includes a separate basement apartment with 3-piece bathroom, that also offers privacy and space.

Where to Find our Multi-Family Homes

These multigenerational (multi-family) homes are offered in three Minto Communities:
